I called my internet provider and told them I didn't want any of the sports channels.  They told me all of them are part of my basic cable.

Does anybody else have this situation?

I think that's pretty much the situation for all cable and satellite services.  The majority do want sports programming so that's what we all get.

Your basic package includes whatever you would get with regular TV local programming.    One level up (extra charge) will include the most popular cable news, sports, and a miscellaneous conglomeration of sit-coms, movies, "oldies", etc.      I've never heard of a "pick and choose" set-up.

I have Direct TV and one day I counted 55 channels of infomercials. That includes HSN, QVC, Evine etc. I don’t want religion, music, of kid TV but I’m stuck paying for them. Really chaps my hide.

I don't want the religious channels or the foreign language ones, but we get those too.

I don’t care for ‘Single Digit TV’...never watch local stations.

Some of the sports programming is just plain crazy.  I ended up one night watching - can you believe it - air guitar championship competition.

I'm not joking.  I really saw that.
