Yikes...those blister bugs! How have we kept them out of Cali, where we have almost every other kind of pest!

That's exactly what SHE said after I made this thread. Well she had laughed at me about the mice SO I now said can we agree they are BOTH bad? She still said spiders are worse.

I am glad they caught that Croemer and you were ok. That must have been scary!

I guess I shouldn't say I teased her, when she screamed at spiders as in ewww. Teasing would be going look at this spider or putting one on her. That I would never do. But I said they don't bite here in PA those are different spiders but she didn't believe me so I said honey theyre ok and giggled to ease her fear. (My grandkids and I joke around all the time)

Well I honestly thought the ones here are harmless. So I apologized to her and said I was wrong.

Thanks for the replies. Moral of the story this week is EVERYONE has fears/phobias!

It was september...the dr. said if I had waited a few more hours I might have lost some if not all of my leg. I feel blessed because there were 3 other people in our community that lost limbs and one who waited to long and died. I was truly lucky. I got very sick and saw the dreaded red line going up my leg with pain in my groin and figured out just what had happened.

I'm sorry you experienced that, and so glad it was caught early enough. What a fright that must have been.

With my cousin, they tried to treat the wound but eventually had to remove part of his calf.

I give spiders serious distance whenever possible, and watch carefully in folded blankets, etc., in closets to be sure none of those brown recluses are hiding there. I've seen several of them in my sister's attic rooms (finished bedrooms in a house on a Tennessee mountain).

Hi doo, one of the people bitten that summer in our community lost their calf too. Those brown recluse spider bites are w*i*c*k*e*d and cause so much damage because you not only have to remove the area of the wound but any where the bite oozed and part of the healthy area to make sure you have all the poison.

I saw a spider (in a web) on one of my lawn chairs. I sprayed with "Home Defense" and it went crazy...hundreds of little baby spiders came out everywhere. I felt really, really bad...for about 2 seconds!{#emotions_dlg.devil2}

I'm okay with seeing them out in the yard, but I use insecticides to control them along the perimeter of the house....keeps them from moving in.

I was bit outside on my patio...was wearing a pair of thongs...never felt the bite. I did notice one tiny drop of blood...had no idea why. Wiped it off and went about my day, then noticed a big blister where I was bitten...should have been my first clue...but I thought it was a blister bug that bit me.

Whoa Croemer! That's soooo scary. I have a spider phobia. Really terrified of them.

There was a girl in our area who was bitten in her sleep by a brown recluse and it laid eggs wherever it had bitten her. She had to have a few surgeries I heard and had a very very difficult time with the whole thing.
