This is a definite yes for me. I just sold my house and will be moving shortly, into a much smaller space. In preparation, I have gotten rid of so much and as I am packing, even more stuff is being donated. I am in the process of trying to sell furniture on Craigslist and if that doesn't work, I will donate. It is hard to see the money I have spent on stuff, just going out the door, but I am ready to make do with less and maybe others can enjoy them. I just do not want to pay to move and store things I really do not need. It is all a bit overwhelming at times but I am trying to focus on the process.

Getting rid of so much also makes me really consider if I need to buy something or not. I am really only buying necessities, groceries and toothpaste and such at this point.

Yes to this!  Will see how far along I get in the New Year, but my plan is to not purchase much of anything!

I would like to be a bit more frugal in 2019 and feel I have most everything I need.  My expenses went up recently and I had a few unexpected car repairs.  I may cut the cable cord next year

I’d like to declutter my attic this coming year. Reading this discussion gives me hope if I just do a little as often as I can, by this time next year I should see some progress. 😊

With regard to a possible recession, I’ve been stuck home with a darn cold the last few days and been flipping the remote through those financial news shows out of boredom.  Have heard it mentioned several times among those program hosts that the recession is coming sometime in this coming year and/or into the next. They could be wrong.  But it did seem to be a recurring theme for them.

I'm pretty sure I've spent less this year than in previous years.

Getting older I'm terrified of something happening to my husband because I can no longer support myself and I just don't think our investments are adequate, well especially now with everything so horrible.   I don't even look at the statements at this point.

So, I'm saving like a maniac and plan to save as much as I can for as long as I can to add to whatever else we end up with.

No.   I am not cutting spending planning for a recession.  I don't carry debt, and do keep an emergency fund.  In other words, I always try to be finacially responsible.

I do plan on spending money this year visiting my new baby granddaughter.

As far as stuff, I pretty much have what I need so don't plan on buying a lot of "stuff".  I intend to shop my closets. This will be done more to avoid clutter and waste than to cut spending.

I will spend less when we retire.

Do the math.

I would like to try to spend a little less in 2019 also if possible. Our financial situation hasn't changed and I don't NEED to spend less, but I'd like to see if we can be a little more careful with our money. My kids are getting older and I know that as they become teenagers and get more involved in activities, drive, then college, etc that our expenses are actually going to go up, so I don't know if I'll be able to spend less or not, but I'd like to try where I can.

I'm another one that would like to avoid spending on a lot of "stuff", even if I can't cut my spending overall. I don't really need much of anything and I feel like we're pretty thrifty already and don't spend on a lot of unnecessary items, but there is always room for improvement.
