You're right - that would make me crazy.    It makes me feel like reaching down their throat and pulling the words out.  JUST SAY IT, ALREADY!  hehe  

Fortunately, my living room Tivo has 'Quick Mode' so when I watch something populated with slow-talkers I can crank it up 30% and it just sounds regular.  love that!  I use Quick Mode a fair amount.

Have you heard Wendy on JTV? She talks so fast and with a high pitched nasal voice it is unreal. Most of the time I have no idea what she is saying. It is awful!  I believe it is her sister Heidi that you speak of with the slow southern drawl. From one extreme to the other.

          Your comment made me laugh, @happygolfcartrider! 😀  I'm usually pretty easy-going and it's rare for me to have to change the channel because of someone's voice or speech patterns....  but Wendy, when she gets wound up, is hard for me to listen to.   I can understand her, but I think I end up getting as wound up as she sounds if I listen very long.   I feel as if I just drank 'way too much caffeine.   There are several who speak slowly, so I'm not sure which one you're thinking of, @PurpleBunny...   but as a southerner I guess I'm so accustomed to it maybe I don't notice.    They probably sound like me, or my relatives!🙃

I'll bet a M dollars that way too much coffee is floating around there.............. I've said this many times before: Around here, drivers will practically run down pedestrians just to get to their coffee fix at our nearby coffee shop.  I do believe that very strong coffee is addictive.  Too many erratic drivers 'speeding' by, rushing into 'that' coffee shop!

It's not the accent that bothers me, they all have accents. It's the PACE of her speaking that drives me nuts. And the nasal tone. Not made for tv.

Kirsten will sometimes give a whole explanation of something and I can't understand a word she says.   Not only does she rattle off too fast but her speech pattern can be indistinct.   It's not productive to have her speak when no one understands her.   I don't know how she had a career in TV broadcasting.   I change the channel when she appears.
