There are now many good restaurants in the Merrifield area with the addition/revamping of the Mosaic and Halstead areas. (My office is just across the street from Fairfax Hospital.)That's good to know. One of our best friends lives on Prosperity. (Sorry, I don't remember if its road or avenue.) I'll have to ask him about other good restaurants in the area.
Actually wookie, I think it's an Avenue... and it used to be such a pretty, quiet, almost country lane... It's now heavily traveled as a cut through between Arlington Blvd. and Little River Turnpike, but is still a nice area... There are scads of new restaurants that have opened and will be opening in the area. Many of them sort of trendy, but probably good none-the-less... There are also some older local favorites, though while not fancy have good food... I do miss the dining options. Even though I now have all the Old Town establishments at my doorstep, just try finding any place to park to avail myself of them, and yet walking isn't always an option...
Yes, I have heard about the traffic problems on that road. We acutally used to use the road as a cut through to visit another friend who lived in Fairfax City. I would love to live in Or near Old Town Alexandria. My sister's husband's sister lives there. Last year, my nephew came to visit from Hawaii for Christmas. He stayed with us the majority of the time, and a few days with her. When we picked him up, he said, "no offense, aunt wookie, but the next time I visit, I'm going to stay with Aunt Donna, and visit you for a few days." I laughed, and told him I didn't blame him one bit.
Old Town is pretty... and fun... and lots to do for all ages, but lots of bars and restaurants for the younger folks to enjoy, so I guess I understand too... Sort of wish I'd lived where I do now when I was a few years younger myself! But just try to cruise down King Street on a Saturday evening (it takes a while...), much less try to find a place to park! Still, I do enjoy living here. It's a bit more of an urban vibe, and yet still not really 'city' if you know what I mean...
I do know what you mean. It's such a pretty area. I also know about the traffic issues over there. I was there once during the day walking, and even the sidewalks were full of people.

Spin it how ever you want, a law is a law. Of all the traffic rules/regulations out there, like I mentioned before, speeding have a VERY high 'duh' factor. Don't break the law & speed limit & you will be rewarded with no tickets. Duh.
I like laws. In fact, I've been jokingly accused of never seeing one I didn't like. Your assumption is wrong.

Have a great evening... I'm off to fix some dinner! No eating out tonight, darn it!

Hi gazelle. I agree.
You have a nice evening too, stevie.

hi wookie.....nice to see you!
we have a speed camera less than a mile away at what is now a busy intersection. i am all for accurate speed cameras, even when they are NOT near a school area. if it deters people from speeding i think it is a great idea. if the state is earning extra money from those not willing to go the speed limit i am fine with that also.

We had them on our freeways and elsewhere. I have forgotten the details, but they were removed and I, for one, was really glad. People would speed along, then when they got to the cameras they would hit their brakes. Driving became dangerous because you had to be aware that someone was going to hit their brakes and slow down quickly (even though there was a 9mph "grace" on these so you could do 74 and not get a ticket) and the flow of traffic was really impeded. I hated those cameras even though I am one of those people who go only 65 and never get in the fast lane.
They removed most of the red light cameras when it was proven they were simply money-makers and had nothing to do with safety.

It's not only easy revenue for the city, but BB.

There are no cameras in my little hick town. But there should be. On the main country road here, people drive too fast like they're on a bypass and we have many Mennonites riding horse and buggy on that road!
There are cameras in the city closest to us and some of the suburbs. These cameras have helped identify criminals as well as driver issues.
I actually think there should be cameras everywhere. Perhaps the crime would drop considerably, and if you have nothing to hide why object?
