Re: Speaking of the BK Halloween burger...

I think I heard on the commercial that the bun is black because they baked A-1 steak sauce into it.

Yeah I guess it just depends on if you like the stuff or not.

The Today show reported last week that they used Worcestershire's sauce here in the U.S. and Squid Ink last year for the first one in Japan.

I thought the picture of it looked really pretty, but then I love black.  But I don't think I'd be tempted to eat it, anyway, so I'll avoid the 'end' results.  Smiley Happy

I haven't eaten fast food in so long I can't even remember when it was.

But I think it's cute that they do different things for holidays.  It's great marketing!

I didn't know that but it makes perfect sense; it's the food coloring.

That's what I heard too, but it doesn't really make sense since A-1 isn't black.  Squid ink is, but not A-1.  Maybe that's how they mostly darken it, but to get that true black color like in the pictures, something else must be added.

To make black dye, they need green dye.

I put up a post about the burger, maybe a week ago.  It even has A1 in the name and advertising.

I'll see if I can find it for you...
