Not that anybody was but.........this past summer they opened a facility a very short distance from my house and a few days ago the local tv station did a little story on it. Holy cow it's the size of 15 football fields and can push out hundreds of thousands of packages a day. Over a million of need be. They have hired 2,500 people. That blew me away. Just saying......and no wonder the traffic has gotten heavier in that area with all those workers coming and going.

That's why some cities don't want Amazon facilities.  Yes, they bring jobs but the price is traffic, congestion and noise.  Communities that need jobs and want the taxes that come with Amazon, accept the good with the bad.  I remember when Boston (near me) was on the short list for the huge Amazon facility and they opted for NY or NJ (I forget which), there was I big sigh of relief.  Some people were a happy dance.  It would have been too much and not worth the new jobs because Boston doesn't have an employment problem. Plus there was already a new Amazon shipping facility not to far away and a 2000 Amazon white collar and programming jobs separate plan.  They already had a huge footprint in the area.

My area was in the running for an Amazon facility.  Our traffic is already some of the worst in the country.  I couldn't imagine what it would be like if it went through.  Though I'm sure house values would of gone through the roof, which I wouldn't have minded.

since many need items instantly, they will need to be everywhere.  the fast food mentality is rampant.

It's called a Robotics Fullfillment Center. So in addition to all the employees it showed all these towers of containers being moved around by robotic things underneath them. It was interesting to see how it works from products coming into the center to the shipping out to customers.

The traffic situation may improve a bit when they start making local deliveries by drone.
