I don't understand why some people think everyone should get rid of their landline. I've gotten more spam calls on my cell than landline, and I only give out my cell number to a handful of people. I know they're spam calls because the number isn't in my contact list, and they never leave a message. That's not always the answer to getting rid of spam calls. It doesn't bother me because I never answer those calls, anyway. This forum isn't allowing paragraphs right now, so that's why the sentences are bunched together.

@teganslawI agree. I don't want to be walking around 24/7 with the cell phone in my pocket or hand and I certainly don't want to sleep with it in case of overnight emergency phone calls.

@CelticCrafterWhile I do keep my cell in my pocket, I don't "sleep with it", anymore than I slept with my landline. I put it on the charger on my bathroom counter at night...plenty close enough to hear if it rings, far enough away that I don't hear every little beep indicating incoming email or other notifications.

If the cell phone isn't in the same room as I am, I don't hear it. If it's on my dresser while I am in the room, I may or may not hear it, so the alternative would be to have it under my pillow and that's not happening. The landline is loud enough to hear all through the house.
