You just knew once everyone got rid of their home phones and started giving out cell phone numbers that this was going to happen more and more.
I get them and I just don't answer if I don't recognize the number.
If I get the call from the same number over and over, I block the number.

@mistyada, I have found the do not call list to be a joke. In fact, I never got so many solicitation calls as I did when I put my home number on that list. There is no way I'm putting my cell number out there.
If you complain about a number, they just start calling under another. "Rachel" from Card Services is still making calls and there have been complaint after complaint filed.

I have been using Consumer Cellular for 6-7 years, very happy with it, but moved to a village that just doesn't have its service, tho the website says it does. So, got the last Tracfone offer. Will be even cheaper for me than CC, as, even with their minimal plan, I never used all the "minutes" available.
I don't give out my number, even tho some sites require one to sign up for something, I just make one up generally.
Still get spam. My son put Hiya on last year, pretty helpful, but some still get through. Lately I can't find any reverse-lookup sites that don't charge, so I just ignore any I don't recognize.
Thanks for the Zedge recommendation, sounds like fun!

Both the state and federal Do Not Call Lists are THE BIGGEST JOKES in the universe!!! They should be called DO CALL LISTS!! Even when you report abusers to the FTC nothing happens....Even if you buy a call blocker the spammers, fraudsters, and telemarketers just use another number and continue their way.........

THANK YOU to those recommending Hiya. I honestly wasn’t aware such apps existed, or that they would do any good. I just activated it on my phone. Couldn’t hurt, as they say, and it’s free, so nothing to lose :-)

I'm so glad my cell phone has the block option. Within the last year or so it seems I've received more spam calls than ever. I've been fooled though and answered several times. Still, it makes things a million times better to be able to block people. My last phone didn't have that option.
