I wouldn't show this to anyone, let alone a young person.
Anything that contains, or comes with, comments that denigrate another person or group of people is not worth my time and does nothing to provide real motivation or honor.
My son is active military and has been deployed 4 times. I'm very very proud of him and he is an excellent leader who truly cares about all his soldiers.
But that doesn't mean everyone in the military is good and honorable. The military is no different than any other profession. Every profession has its takers, liars, racists, rapists, abusers, and trouble-makers. To say people in one profession are better than others ignores all the good that people of all ages, in all professions, are doing in this world.
When you denigrate groups of people or anyone, it reflects on you more than on those you're talking about.
Remember, people will live up or down to what you call them, say to them, say about them. I hope your acceptance of these negative comments will change to more positive and encouraging ones.
Young people are our future and I look forward to what they'll do. I'm retired but believe they will become good leaders and develop a culture full of opportunities and inclusiveness.

Notice in the opening shot you'll seethe gunner's position is all shot to hell while the pilot's cockpit ahead of it is undamaged.Later on notice the corpsman taking a fingerprint of the deceased gunner, before the filmcontinues, then showing the chaplain saying the final prayers, followed by taps, then thesailors push the aircraft and our patriotic airman over the side and watch it sink into thedistance sea. Here's one for a serious conversation with your kids. THIS WAS REAL!This is what 18 year old "kids" were doing in 1944. No safe spaces, no hurtful unthinkableremarks that they couldn't cope with, just dying for their country so the ungrateful, uninformed snowflakes of today could act like fools decades later.............This 2 minute video is pretty moving. Worth your while. "What actually made this countrygreat is ordinary guys like this doing extraordinary things."Yes, I copied it-don't know why it's grey. The preface are not my words-it came with the email from a friend of ours. So disregard the personal part, although it helped me while watching, and just watch the video. That's the point. Maybe it was directed at some snowflakes and helped someone, who knows. It's the video that counts.
One you post it, you are responsible. If you don't want the responsibility that comes from posting derogatory terms, edit or don't post them.

How do we know people are ungrateful? What defines ungrateful? Is it OP's opinion or the author's or one group's opinion? Is it because someone chose a path different than someone thinks is ok? People need to stop judging.

I personally would never show this to a young person. I think they are smart enough to figure out that deaths in war are not a pretty sight.
I do do honor the military, past and present. However, it is not for everyone. There are so many ways of serving our country. I have a problem with automatically dumping any group of people as alike in all ways, which seems to be negative most of the time.

I learned a very long time ago,DO NOT SAY TO A MOTHER, THERE IS WRONG THEIR CHILD DID

The OP apparently agreed with and liked the content of the e-mail she received so much that she passed it on to us. The OP is 100% responsible for the content of her posting on here, not her friend.

I think it's really sad that no one gives a hoot about that boy who went into the ocean. Instead you are picking apart one person't opinion of something that may have slipped our minds. Didn't you watch the video? Don't you understand? I'm not saying show it to your grandchildren, but it's not a bad idea. They don't know about that war. They would get more out of it I think than you here.

I certainly didn't say I don't give a hoot..Many, many ,people died tragic ,untimely ,deaths during all wars . War is terrible ,and I can't think of any people, that didn't suffer terribly, and unfairly, during war . God rest all of their souls
