Heartwarming video shows the moment a mama deer rescues her frightened fawn after it becomes terrified crossing a road

A driver uploaded video on Instagram on Sunday showing a doe walking toward her fawn on a highway in Port Orchard.
When the mother found her offspring, she approached it as it was lying down on its stomach.

The fawn is then seen being nudged to move off the highway.
The adorable video generated close to 200,000 views on Instagram as of Sunday night.
Jessie Larson was overjoyed to be there to capture the moment on video.
Larson, a local resident, was driving on Baby Doll Road in Port Orchard when she came upon the scene.
She turned her car engine off, she said, so the fawn’s mother wouldn’t be scared off.

Beautiful.
Sadly, I see many deer hit on the highway in my area. It always breaks my heart. As soon as I get home, I will call State Highways to have the body picked up. Over the years, I've located the exact offices to call for State and Country roads. Still it sickens me to see it.
Last night, when I arrived home from being out for a bit, there was a beautiful Doe reclining like a queen in the middle of our small field. It was pouring rain!
I've seen this behavior often, and wondered why the deer would not seek shelter in the woods -- which are very nearby on all sides.
Such beautiful creatures being pushed out of their homes by our development. Sigh.

It doesn’t matter if a mom has two legs or four legs, we love our babies and will do anything to protect them. Very heartwarming and precious to see.

I have wondered about that too. Where I live it's herds of females laying down in the grass in the pouring rain. Never seen a buck doing the same.
Maybe it's their way of taking a shower out in the open to clean themselves?
Let me google research this. Will post what I find.

Very sweet, but I wonder why they continued walking down the road instead of getting off into the woods.

Yes, the bucks are rarely out in the open, but I have seen them.
As beautiful as they are, I've already pulled 3 deer ticks off myself this spring. The deer come closer and closer to the house all the time. I rarely go into the woods, but somehow, those ticks find me. Ugh!

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story.
Happy endings for animals bring much joy to my heart.
