The only movie that holds a 4 year old's attention is a Disney movie, and that's usually for about an hour or so.
Excellent post !

This reminds me of when theaters showed films with M ratings. For "mature" audiences. I can't remember if it was an M or an R, but my mother dragged my brother to see Goodbye, Columbus when it came out in 1969. He was underage and had no trouble getting a ticket, but she had a problem convincing them she was old enough to see the film because she always looked so young.
And I'm glad I got to see so many adult films when I was a kid. My sister took me to see The Lion in Winter when it was released in 1968 and it has been my favorite film ever since. It was actually less traumatizing than Bambi.
Your mother can't be with you anymore...
AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

I feel bad for the little girl...but why didn't that get stopped at the ticket counter...the father should have been told...(obviously the father has no sense) that the little girl was too young to be admitted...
My grands are older and I am not sure it would be a good idea to take them....I always scrutinize the reviews on each movie....check out the ratings...before even consider taking them to any movie...

Remember the debacle about Jurassic Park? Parents just assumed that since it had dinosaurs, it would be great for kids.

I'm sure the ride home was pleasant.
Poor kid.

If we needed a license to BECOME a parent, 99.9% of people would be eligible. Now to BE a parent....of those 99.9%, over 50% of those folks would have their license revoked!!!

Some parents have no common sense
Where do you stand on all parents having to pass a test before being able to take a baby home with them? Licenses for many less important things and this being the most important one and just anybody can become a parent, and I use that term very, very very loosely.
There was a reason at a young age that I decided I did not want to have children. I was too self absorbed and also did not feel or see any reason to believe I would change. And as fate would have it? I haven't and that is a good thing. Would think some would somehow know they might not be ready for the "parents role", but then I look around me.
Lot's of people out there that are educated beyond their intelligence. Have the highest of IQ but when it comes to common sense many of them haven't figured it out yet.
All of this is just my opinion along with why I chose to be childless.

...you can't imagine what my DH and I had to do when we were going thru pre-adoption procedures....I thought at that time those that could have children of their own needed to take ALL THOSE CLASSES we had to take....poor little girl, what a dad she has.

There are parents, there are biological delivery systems, there are those that fall in between and there are part-time parents where the individual's want takes precedence over the child's needs. This appears to be the last--father wanted to see Godzilla but was stuck with the kids so he dragged them along. Saddest part the little girl ends up traumatized as much by father as by what she saw in the theater.
If only being a dad or mom were as easy as being a father or mother.

He's being a selfish parent....all he cared about was what "he" wanted to see and didn't care about his kids at all. I see forms of it all the time, unfortunately.
