We went to see Godzilla today (It was great btw). Well some dad comes in w his 2 kids. and sat right behind us. He had a boy who looked about 7 and a little girl who was about 4. The kids were quiet during the ads (not the previews actual ads) before the movie and were eating their popcorn.
The lights went off and it got dark, previews started for 1 violent type movie. The little girl started crying and was scared and said she wanted to go home. I heard the dad yell quote, "Be quiet and s&ck it up we aren't leaving!"
It took all I had to keep quiet. But I kept quiet thinking its none of my business and he didnt hit her or anything but I felt bad for the little girl. I mean why would you bring a 4 yr old to Godzilla to begin with? Shes too young.
Well she kept crying even during the preview for Maleficent, (that scared her too). Finally they left and I heard the dad yell quote, "Now we will never go to a movie again I wasted money on tickets and popcorn!"
Poor kid, its not her fault its HIS fault for taking a little kid like that to this type of movie to begin with which goes back to what I always said. Her (Or any kids) crying did NOT annoy me, the dad however DID. IE he had no common sense to bring her to this type of movie to begin with.

Those poor children!

the parents with no common sense are out weighing those with common sense.

Too bad you can't require people to graduate from parenting school before they can have kids.

That's really sad. Poor kids.

The key word here is "parent."
I used to work on an infant unit at the hospital and was mortified. Now I work on a psych unit and I can see the "fruits" of my labor. These babies get a little older and the "parents" will bring them to the psych unit -- sometimes three at a time -- and demand that they be admitted.
Because they never parented, they are now overwhelmed and need a break from their offspring. It's scary out there...

Theaters need to stop selling children's tickets for PG 13 movies. If parents had to pay adult prices for their little ones, some would stop bringing them.
The only movie that holds a 4 year old's attention is a Disney movie, and that's usually for about an hour or so.

I wouldn't judge all parents by the bad behavior or poor judgment of a few.
It's a real shame that little girl had to experience that.

I have to say that it really depends on the child. My mother routinely dragged us to every "adult" film and we had access to "adult" literature.
The only time it created a stir was when she rounded us up and brought us to see West Side Story. Dad didn't mind until a female coworker told him it was a "dirty movie."
My, how times have changed.

Oh I know not to judge all parents on this but sometimes I shake my head. I just felt so bad for her. He should have taken her to that little Oz movie that's out or perhaps Rio? He was thinking of himself.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
