Re: Social Media and the Covid Vaccine

@Mersha

"What say you" is your question.

Is it "thoughtless and inconsiderate"?  No. It reminds me of the "have and have nots". I personally am happy for people that have gotten their vaccine. Why would I think they should not share their happiness with others?

I have never envied others or been jealous of anyone because they have succeeded,  be it in business/pleasure or a vaccine. There are many that have little and some with a little more. That's the reality of life.

Not knowing how or why some succeeded and others failed?  Things like these vaccines are not something I can control. As I have said on these forums ad nauseam, I don't concern myself with things I cannot control.

Sorry, but no one is "hpopping over others" to get their vaccines!  That is ridiculous!  It is first goes to whoever signs up first!  Effort wins out...NOT PRIVILEGE!

@Gkhm Well, there were the two women that dressed as grannies (and they were not older)...tried to get their 2nd shot, they got caught...no one can understand how they got the first shot...they  think someone on the 'inside' helped them

then, there was the couple that pretended to be in a group that was eligible for shots...they were young and not eligible, I think they owned a casino.....

people driving to Florida to get in line for the shot...all these and many more cases were in the news, so yes people are hopping over others.  I have no doubt there are many other stories...I just cannot recall them right now....I despise people that think try to jump the line.

@Mom2Dogs, there was an article in today's Los Angeles Times, "Private schools sought early vaccines with access codes or by claiming healthcare duties."

Re: Social Media and the Covid Vaccine

I have never thought people were showing off when seeing pics of them smilng after receiving their vaccine.   They just look happy and I am happy for them.  There will be enough for everyone who wants a vaccine very shortly.  No need to be envious.

Yes there will always be people who think they shouldn't have to wait and people who lie and cheat. Sadly that's the way of some people.

Re: Social Media and the Covid Vaccine

I so hear you.  I cannot even get my 94 year old mother on a waitlist. I have given up on myself. In my county, last week only 20 people were vaccinated who are not healthcare professionals. My area is poor and primarily non-white.  We seem to have been ignored. I tend right now to ignore friends who claim their doctors got them into a medical center for their shots, and I have stopped celebrating the " look what I got" posts with the golden vaccine ticket.  With cancer and diabetes, I just want to know when my turn is.

This is true inequity that all of us should be outraged about. Sorry is not adequate @KailaS

@KailaS   I am so sorry that you and your mother are having such a difficult time trying to get the vaccine.  I hope you are able to find an appointment very soon.

That is so very true.  There are very real issues with inequity.  @KailaS , I will hope that things will improve so that both you and your mother will receive the vaccine soon.

I wish they could fund traveling vans for vaccinations to reach the underserved.  Maybe there will be hope when the Johnson & Johnson vaccine becomes available since they can ship that vaccine freely and it can travel without such restrictions.  I will keep my fingers crossed.

Re: Social Media and the Covid Vaccine

I cannot access the vaccine although eligible. That said, I am happy for my fellow posters here that have had it. I loved reading Hckynut received it because he posted he was skating again. I secretly was worried for him. Many other posters have shared their health histories here and the more that receive the vaccine the better...

It will be nice if we could see some herd immunity, perhaps, by this time next year...

Re: Social Media and the Covid Vaccine

@KailaS ...Sorry your area is being underserved, have you thought about contacting your area representative at the state level?

I am known for contacting my federal and state representatives on occasion, I always get a reply....possibly a phone call would be best so you don't have to wait on a email or mail reply...good luck.
