I wanted to buy a toile tea towel from a company called Hazelnut New Orleans - my niece loves New Orleans, and I thought I'd put the tea towel (with images of NOLA on it) along with a John Besh cookbook and other items, in her birthday gift box. The tea towel is $28 - I don't object to that - and the shipping is $19.03 UPS Ground Residential. UPS Ground Commercial is just a bit over $15.00. There is no way I am spending that much on shipping a tea towel which probably weighs three or four ounces ... This kind of makes QVC fees look good - not!

Found it for a good price at a restaurant supply store, but when I calculated shipping, it was $21+ for a $10 beater! The weld on one of my beater broke. I discovered that most mixers use the same beaters so I went to Walmart, bought the cheapest mixer on the shelf, which was less than$10. It fits my mixer perfectly and I have a spare.

Op have you looked on ebay or Amazon to see if you can get it cheaper and less S&H?

No. This particular item design is owned by this business.

Sundance catalogue has the most expensive shipping I've seen. I only shop there on rare occasions when there is a break on shipping. I don't remember the exact amount, but I think it starts at $19.95. They have pretty things and good sales, but ... no. That's crazy for a silk blouse that weighs 3 oz.

Burnsite, I learned the hard way that it costs the same to return it.
Don't shop with them anymore, but enjoy paging through the many catalogs they send.

You could write to them to find out why the shipping is so high for such a small item.
A thing a really loathe with any retailer is when they charge shipping by the amount rather than the weight. I used to order a lot from American Stationery, and the shipping would typically increase just with the added expense of putting your name and address on the envelope. Is the weight any different?
