'Correct' or not, I can't get past that plus size man wearing the red bikini advertising one pharmaceutical or another. Really, not something I want to see nor do I think it's helping to market their drug. Representative, inclusive or not, I guess I preferred the old days when models were fit and attractive.

I wouldn't call him plus size. He's somewhat overweight and out of shape and the commercial is tongue-in-cheek. I just don't like body shaming of anyone.

@CalminHeart - I don't like body shaming either.  Who wants to see that?

Who wants to see what? Who wants to see body shaming or a body like that man's? If it's about the man, then you just body shamed.

@CalminHeart - I never body shame. NEVER. My "who wants to see that" comment was directed at the poster who did the body shaming. That poster said "who wants to see that" about the man's body.   I find body shaming worse than the person with the weight issue. That is what I don't want to see. The shaming.

Re: So, why are there no.......

@CalminHeart - to continue. I feel as you do about body shaming.

Not to go in it all in all the detail, but I posted a cute video on Facebook earlier this week. It was a funny video.  Then I fell asleep immediately after.  I woke up in the middle of the night and one of my newer Facebook friends had posted a comment, body shaming the person in the video. I had to take another look at the video again as I didn't know what she was referring to.

The weight of the person in the video was not the point of the video of all.  Not in any way, shape or form.

I didn't sleep the rest of the night. At all.  At 7, I took the persons comment down, the video down, unfriended the person and cried off and on for the rest of the day. The shaming of the person in the video affected me that much.  I just could not stop crying.

Then I posted on Facebook and apologized if anyone had been offended about the video or the vile comment made from the person who had posted it.

I have been very heavy in my life and lost 108 pounds years ago.  I have gained a little back and am working to lose it again.  I will never forget how I felt personally being that heavy and I won't forget the looks from people and I'm sure the comments behind my back. People are so cruel sometimes.  But, as unattractive as I personally felt being that heavy, I think that body shaming is just as unattractive a look.

I've lost 80 pounds. I remember the countless nasty comments, ridicule, and body shaming. It changes a person and takes a huge toll that doesn't go away when weight is lost.

I'd happily take an out of shape or heavy-set man with a good heart/fun energy over someone who shames him for his size.

Body shaming reflects on you and it's not a good look.

@CalminHeart I'm sorry you've had to endure body shaming. I guess I was blessed...I've been very overweight most of my life but, other than my younger brothers when we were kids, I've never had to go through that. Any comments that might have been made were out of my hearing (and I'm sure there were plenty!).

Being overweight is NOT healthy and shouldn't be made to seem so--but overweight, obese, plus-size, fat people should never be made to feel ashamed of our weight. Believe me, we know we are fat, and we know we should do something about it! It's just not that simple, though. Yes, we can eat less and move more, all that, but for some of us it's a constant struggle that we just get tired of.

My weight does not keep me from doing what I want to do. I go out to shop, eat, see a movie, visit with friends--even put on a bathing suit once in awhile! If someone doesn't like the way I look, they can turn their head, it won't hurt my feelings.

Re: So, why are there no.......

@vermint None of the strangers on this forum/the internet give a poo about fat people's "health". It is an accepted way to be hateful about something that they want to be mean about.

IF they actually cared about anyone's health they would also care about the person's mental health & they would be kinder.

IF they actually cared about anyone's health they would also be on sports/dirt bike forums & saying mean things about those activities.

No one wants to be fat. No one, that is fat, needs anyone to tell them there are ways to lose fat. No one that is fat needs people on the internet explaining how unhealthy they are. No one needs people hiding behind that excuse for why they feel the need to be mean.

Okay. You don't like to look at fat people. We get it. But fat people are out there living their lives. That is all.

They are not hurting you. They are not encouraging you to join them in being fat.

They just want to be on the beach with coconut drinks & have you sit up on your pedastal & enjoy your own world.

For myself I would not care how great shape that clod would be. I hate Speedos on men and his daughter was embarrassed with him walking around in it at home and out in public. She cringed and that alone was offensive about that commercial.

Since the stats are 2/3 of Americans are either overweight or morbidly obese, I suspect most of the people "shaming" others is coming from other obese individuals unhappy with their own weight gain @Dusty1 .And since 98% of people who go on diets just regain the weight back, clearly no one has it easy regarding maintaining a healthy weight. And please.. if you are sensitive to criticism, any forum like this is disastrous. You can preach about being inclusive but it falls on deaf ears. Sadly.🥺

Re: So, why are there no.......

I had a Russian immigrant co worker.  She retired and I miss her.  We were great friends.  She moved across the country from me.  I asked her once what was her impressions of Americans as soon as landed.  "Big" was her answer.  Just that.  When I asked is there something more.  She shook her head and said again "Big"  I think of this when I read about 2/3 of Americans are either very overweight or Obese.  Or the play "The Whale" about an obese man trapped in his apartment.  The actor got criticized because he wore a fat suit.  Why not a real obese actor?  The producers said they couldn't supply one.  In real life obese people can't move very well. It is a real disability.

[ Edited ]

@Dusty1 @ - You don't know anything about "the strangers on this forum" or whether they "give a poo" about others.  Calling them "hateful" and "mean"

So please don't assume to speak for all of us.  You're doing a pretty good job of shaming those who don't agree with you, based on your own uninformed opinion.

I doubt you know what's in "the strangers" hearts and minds.  And you don't know what other forums/activities/whatever that they may participate in.  You don't know their own personal experiences.

You may want to examine your own attitude towards others.

Re: So, why are there no.......

I ask my son about swimwear and he said

Speedos, was made for competive water

sports. Speedo is one of the sponsors of the

Olympics. Speedos are supposed to be tight fitting, less swimming drag, and most competive swimmers and divers shave all

body hair for drag also. Son did swimming in high school. I'm not body shaming anyone.
