I must admit that I am guilty of that at times. Many times when I explain certain things it is easier to tell about my experiences or similar ones to make it easier for some to understand exactly where I am coming from with my rambling. To turn it around and make it about me is not my intent, rather a way of showing I can relate to some issues or that I have experienced the same or similar issues.

Now I do always try to get back to the one I am talking with and make sure they know I was trying to not make it about myself, but I know many times that the impression is that is what I am doing. My intent is never to diminish the person telling her/his problem and asking for opinions/suggestion or advice, it is just to show them how I came about giving one of these or more to them.
