I am being cautious and washing my hands more often. Other than that, I am not worried about getting the virus. One person in my state did have it but has now recovered.

Lots of over reaction to the virus, thousands more people have died from the flu. I do what I always do during flu season, which is use common sense. The people who choose to travel out of the country and go on cruises are the ones not using common sense and making the situation worse.

@goldensrbest : Who do you want them to give them to? All of us? What a waste of money.

@SeaMaiden well girl, King County just declared an emergency.
Counties must do this in order to seek government assistance such as FEMA, etc.

On cnn, this morning , the doctor said that hospitals need to get places ready , to take people in case this virus does keep expanding, i think our goverment has waited ,and lost some time ,like no test kits.

@drizzellla wrote:Our newspaper has had the Virus as front page headlines for over a week. Yesterday, big headline at the top of the front page, that the man died in Washington. Today big headlines that a second person died.
Then today there was an article with a byline of Associated Press. It stated "worried Americans swarmed stores to stock up on basic goods such as bottled water, canned foods, and toilet paper."
Three paragraphs later in the same article, "Stores such as Costco sold out of toilet paper, bottled water, and hand sanitizer."
Reminds me of the "snow panic". Anytime we were to get a snow storm the TV and papers would be non-stop coverage. Well this year we have had only trace amounts of snow. So they have to have something to chatter about.
I think the media thrives and lives on the panic and fear....Most doctors are saying practice good hygiene and wash your hands and use common sense...THIS IS WHAT I'M DOING!!!..If you have a decent immune system even if you get the virus you will survive it....Now those with respitory or lung conditions may need to take extra precautions and are the most vunerable....
What you say is so true about the hype, I remember one year they predicted that our area would get the tailend of a hurricane with 125 mph winds....so people panicked and literally cleared the shelves off the grocery stores....and you know what....no wind....not even a drop of rain....
And lets think about Y2K and the Mayan Calendar...how did that all turn out....

@wonderfulworld wrote:This winter ( Jan and Feb) I have had 3 relatives who have had fairly severe viruses with lung congestion. Hight temps. One was tested for flu, strep and cultured. Lasted a good week.
All tests came back negative for identifying the usual pathogen. Nothing came back positive. They wonder if this virus has not already been around?
We live in the Midwest. No 'known cases' in our state.
Any thoughts?
My sister said the same thing....Some of her clients had the same experience and tested negative for the flu...then they ran a strep and other tests and those were negative too...

Our local news was talking about this this morning. They said people are complaining about the media coverage of this and how they feel the media is hyping this and causing people to become hysterical. The newscasters response was that there really isn't anything newsworthy to report on. It's politics or this so they keep reporting on it.
They actually admitted that....SMH!!! That makes me angry....!!!! And they wonder why more and more people dont trust the news anymore!

Could care less about this virus hype. Too much hysteria. It is just a cold virus. They are out there all the time.
This is misinformation. The general coronavirus group of viruses are colds, they have been labeled that way for a long time. But COVID-19 is not a cold. It's not the flu either. It's a "novel virus." If people in China were all getting colds, there wouldn't be all those extra deaths there. I won't share here how the symptoms are different in the more severe cases, but you can look that up for yourself.
@Porcelain I just want toilet paper
That's not going to work. Ask the lady in the stall next to you. ![]()
