Heard this again today when a person was interviewed.  The reporter asked the subject, that question:  "what would you tell your 12 year old self, today?"  

I guess I'd say, "don't worry about today, there's a whole world out there to explore".

Truthfully, I couldn't tell her much, she knew it all. LOL

I would tell her you are perfect just the way you are. There is nobody like you in this world. So don’t compare yourself to anybody else.

Soon you will see what you think is some terrible flaw isn’t so terrible, because it makes you uniquely you!

I'd say you are not fat!  Look around girl, you aren't the only kid with some acne!  Middle school will pass and at 14 Iife gets better for you!   At 12, I felt like the big ugly duckling.  I was very chubby.  My friends were all small little girls who got their clothes in the preteen section.  My clothes came from the women's section.  I was probably a women's 10 or 12.  I felt huge.  I had some acne on my cheeks.  I felt ugly.  I was a voracious reader and an honor student.  I think burying my mind in books kept me from thinking about how ugly and fat I was.
