So, we went to the g/d's college graduation Saturday night. The auditorium was humongous. Everyone had cell phones. We were sitting up in the bleachers and she was down in the orchestra. Aside from people yelling out to their kids (who heard them) things went very smoothly. Years ago, things were so different. All the cell phones lighting up and texting and tweeting going on. LOL
My DIL was texting her and she said "I'm sitting in the 5th row and my friend has her cap decorated with batman and red sparkles and I'm going to wave, holding up my program"... From that text, we could see exactly where she was so that we could get a picture. Then, she texted that they were one of the first to be called up, so that we could also shoot that.
My son said "remember the days of the Camcorder?" Boy, times sure have changed. ![]()

That's the way it was at my daughters graduation. Still looked like little ants, but at least I knew where my ant was. LOL

I wonder how it must feel to be so young as to never experienced life without all this technology. I don't think they really see the world around them, or are capable of enjoying it because they are so engrossed in the technology.
Even sadder are the people my age and older who grew up and lived life as adults without all this, and can't put it down. I'm not saying it doesn't have its advantages, but it is so out of control.
The only thing I can liken it to is when my son was little, I was photographing and filming every event/milestone and realized one day that I was watching his whole life through a lens. I put down the cameras more and remembered to live in the minute, whether it was being captured every time wasn't as important anymore.

We were talking about this just this morning too. Give a 2 y/o a computer or cell phone and they know exactly what to do. Give me a cell phone and I have to ask how to turn it on. I am still using my original flip phone (but it does take pictures)... My husband has a smart phone and uses it to text the kids and all that but I don't like change.
Today's kids are just born into this technology. We think they are so smart but this is all they know, just like when my kids were little and knew how to turn on the TV. We thought they were little geniuses... LOL
I must say cell phones do come in handy. About a month ago, we had a minor fender bender in a Publix parking lot. Some guy in scrubs backed up into us while we were driving and scraped the entire side of our car all the way back to the tail-light. I immediately jumped out and started taking pictures. My husband got out and he and "scrubs" changed informatiion by just taking pics of their insurance cards, with their cells.... Amazing, LOL
He said he would pay us with his own check if the damage was less than his deductible (LOL). He really was a nice guy but I could tell he was in a hurry and just wanted to get all this over with. I came home and googled him and turns out he is an Orthopedic surgeon. My husband tells me I am a stalker......
We got home, called our insurance company, who told us to call his and it was all taken care of. We got an estimate and the repair guy told us not to worry - that he knows the adjuster and will get whatever he asks for. He did and all ended well. They even paid for a rental for us for 10 days.![]()
Anyway, I digress..... All's well that ends well.....
