Just looking at the graphic, Harvey and all his destruction was a baby compared to the size of Irma.

@CelticCrafter  I noticed that too...which begs the question why anyone would remain in FL. I can only guess they didn't have a tv to view the flooding & destruction there...

I have an awful feeling about the size/scope of Irma's result will be overall when all is said and done. I also have a hard time visualizing the process/logistics of it all...

But it could weaken, right?

I have never been through something like this and I pray to God that I never have to!  I can't even begin to imagine how all these people feel!  It has to just be totally overwhelming --- in every conceivable way.  It's terrible for everyone but I feel the worst for elderly, ill and people who have really no one close to them to help them.  And to know that your family members are there and you are not close by to help.  Just awful.  I read the reports saying that due to the fact that some people were not able to leave the area, that family members have made the choice to come there.  I know if my elderly mother were there, and I could get there, I sure would.

Of course, safety of the persons are the most important and as everyone says, material things can be replaced.  But, think about how hard it is to just leave your whole world behind.  Many might not have proper insurance or enough to cover everything that would need to be replaced.  Plus, if you have so many personal things -- mementos, etc. from a liftetime and you cannot possibly take all these things.  Sounds trivial, but these things are all weighing heavily on their minds.  And what about looting?  Unfortunately, the way society is today, people take advantage of this.

I pray that some how, some way, this storm lessens dramatically in size and strength and ends up not being the total, huge catastrophe that they are saying.  Most importantly, that no lives are lost.

Thank you for posting that graphic. Puts a great perspective on the storms.

Nobody has been through anything like this before!

It is the worse hurricane recorded in history.  Isn't that a comforting thought!

Take the evacuations seriously.  Go to a safe shelter.
