I think the ear part of the thermometer is covered with a disposable cover which is changed with each passenger. At least I hope so.

When most workers wear gloves...they touch so many other things while wearing these gloves...what's the point? I've seen many food preparers wear gloves, then handle money while still wearing them! I feel the same thing is now going to happen with airport personnel.

A lot of times the gloves are to protect the person wearing them.

Taking one's temp is just the first phase of screening. Isn't that what's going on there?

That's a good point, bri. But the customers often assume it's for their benefit. That would apply to restaurant use, anyway. I see so much cross contamination, and I have a healthy immune system, so I note it, but don't panic over it. But with Ebola....my thoughts have changed.

Did anyone read the article??? They aren't even making it mandatory for travelers coming straight from Liberia.

If they can make us take our shoes off, all metal off, no liquids over 3 oz., no manicure scissors, etc, etc, etc,.....they can take their temperatures.

Well if there is a cover over the probe, he is going to need to remove it. He should be wearing gloves regardless. I wouldn't let that guy take my temp.

Hi Noel....wouldn't taking a temp like that cross contaminate?

Why don't they use the thermal forehead scan thingy? And why isn't he wearing gloves.?
