We had the coolest summer here in this particular town. Only a handful of days in the 90's, no drought/water restrictions. Bills for water and cooling were MUCH lower this year than years before. Thankfully!

It doesn't mean every town, every patch of grass. Of course there are micro-climates that don't reflect national or global temps.
We are experiencing exactly what was predicted when this first became an issue: weather extremes, and global warming which is verified by temperatures taken in the oceans.

The extremes are now becoming more evident, aren't they ?
Scary.
yes, they are.
If you think your summer was cooler than normal, you are also experiencing the effects of climate change. The term global warming doesn't mean your geographical location is warmer. It refers to the warming of the oceans. This is causing polar ice cap melt and raising water levels. It amazes me that people still don't get this.
90% of scientists believe carbon dioxide emissions have been the main contributor of the warming of the air and water.
Hurricanes in the Pacific that come near land are rare until now. It seems to me to be evidence of the warming of the Pacific.

Not to rain on anyone's parade....when I was living in San Diego I remember there being quite a few humid days during the summer that produced beads of sweat on my forehead. I lived in San Diego for 20 years and every time those days occurred, I said the same thing....what the heck is going on???? This was in the 80's. I also experienced the same thing when living in Long Beach. I guess that was considered cyclical at the time....not refuting what's happening now.

It sure isn't usual for the Bay Area. The number of too warm and humid days have been too often to number this year. And NO fog? OMG
I am so sick of it. I was making out the grocery shopping list this morning and realized I've made nothing but meals that don't require much oven use for MONTHS. I'm running out of ideas! I can't wait to go back to actual cooking.

The issue with no fog is definitely peculiar. Also, even though we have a/c that we use 24/7 during our most searing days.....we hate heating up the kitchen from using the oven. We have a convection oven too that's better but still it's a bit of downer to cook anything and eat hot food.

My sister-in-law lives in Carlsbad. When I called her today, she had her feet in cold water with a fan blowing. She lives 3 blocks from the ocean and like some said, no AC because of the cool breezes. Not the last 4 days, severe heat.
