I have to go talk health insurance at the local mall (we have a kiosk)l at 11AM and the plowman just plowed me in! For the second time this morning!!!

My son is out shoveling...it's minus 5 windchill.

I'm sure the mall can wait...I doubt too many people will be out shopping on a Monday morning in a snowstorm!!!

Wish me luck....

Good luck and stay safe. You just might be surprised how many people are out and about.

Lipstick Diva,

I overlook Lake shore drive and yesterday there were a LOT of cars coming through at almost normal speed... The side roads are a completely different story!

ETA-Caravaggio- We don't freak out here either.. Most of us just put on a snowsuit and go out and sled or play...Wink

pics from front of my building 2011.. yesterday was a cake walk,IMHO!

Yes well as for the comment"I am really curious to see how much more news coverage and more important it gets as it moves toward the east coast"

As some one else said we don't freak out here we deal with it. And if the world financial markets were out somewhere in the middle of no where in stead of NYC I would think it would get the same air time as well.

I think the airtime has more to do with a better storyline watching everyone panic. You deal with it, 4-8" of snow in NYC and you shut the whole city down. If they did that in the Midwest they'd be shut down half the time.

Re: Snowstorm in Midwest as it moves East

In PA we did NOT get near the snow amounts they were calling for. However that's because we got freezing rain, so roads were slushy slick. Temps are ok now but they will be dropping to teens by evening and below zero over night. So there will be flash freezing on roads. (There are a lot of accidents Im reading about on facebook). Schools were on delay this morning and my daughter and family lost power all morning from the freezing rain.

Re: Snowstorm in Midwest as it moves East

Our daughters live in NE Ohio and they, so far, have gotten 14-15" of snow with at least 3' snow drifts. One of my SIL's is a police officer and has to be out on the road but his cruiser got stuck and had to be pulled out because it bottomed out on the street. NE Ohio has excellent snow removal though so they should have it cleared up in a few more days once it stops snowing.

Schools are definitely closed.

The city was shutdown because of 20+ inches was supposed to fall. It is very rare that NYC or Jersey for that matter shuts down. I live in one commute to the other for my job.

*Sigh* another 14 or so inches. Probably more. We had 30- something inches last week. No school again tomorrow.
