Here in the St.Louis and surrounding mid Missouri area we have had an abundance of rain and severe flooding with several fatalities. In some areas it's been reported by the news that up to 16" of rain has fallen and some rivers are still rising. Up until we started getting heavy rains within the last week we were almost bone dry with I think the weather reports said about 2" total rainfall for the month of October. More rain is expected this weekend but today it's sunny and about 60 degrees. I'm not looking forward to snow

@rockygems123 How nice it must be beautiful. I live in So Florida and there is a hurricane churning out in the caribbean again. Unreal, isn't it.
It is truly beautiful here as well as your state. It is unreal with the dangers, take care and hopefully won't be a bad one.

More snow Friday into Saturday whew roads will be a mess!
Just beautiful! I live in WV where we get 4 seasons and my favorite is winter. Lived in it all my life, school, work. the whole bit, but nothing like a big snow fall on a cold evening.

@chrystaltree wrote:People who don't get snow like that always think it's oh so beautiful. It's no beautiful if you have to drive in it, shovel, clean off the cars and get them out, walk the dogs, take public transportation. And then you have to do it all over again when you get more snow a week later. I'm in MA and I hate snow now. A light sprinkling on Christmas is all I need. Snow was a part of winter until a few years ago when weirdly we just stopped getting big snow. We haven't had a snow blizzard in years. We just get a couple of inches but not often. I haven't had to wear snow boots in two years. Sounds crazy but last winter hubby and son in law took the kids up to a park in NH to sled and play in the snow. Just hour away. I suppose we are do for some serious snow but I am dreading it.
We moved from the Bay Area to Denver almost 30 yrs ago and have never looked back. Only snow we had was on trips to Tahoe and loved it.
Snow is definitely manageable here in Denver metro. It is pretty and sun will be out soon with guys in their shorts.
They're definitely outdoor crazies out here lol.
You may get your local snow this year and sounds like the kids would love it.

@rockygems123. Same here in the Albuquerque area. I awoke to a winter wonderland with 5-6" on my block wall fence. Very fine, dry flakes started yesterday afternoon and will continue through tomorrow. Windy and bitterly cold.
So much for the predicted "warmer and drier than normal".
Meanwhile my sister in PA. Says she could sunbathe in her yard today. Crazy.
Oh yay you got your needed precipitation!
Send a pic if you can. We're loading up on snow for the next 2 days then we'll most likely have a dry spell.
Crazy about the PA weather, unbelievable.
We (CO & NM) had our share of warm weather up until a couple weeks ago?!

Things are starting to get brown and most of the trees have turned and lost their leaves.
Did you have to deep water your trees? We were short on rain too here in Denver and the pines weren't looking great.

These numbers are from yesterday. More snow has fallen since then.
@SilleeMee. Poor kids here can't catch a break with an old fashioned "snow day". They have to do "remote learning" now when the weather is bad.

People lost lives. It's such a foreign occurrence here, that the authorities and citizens don't know how to be resourceful and safe. Plus, our power structure stinks. They've known this for a long time and have done little to rectify the problem, except argue about funds needed for improvements.
They claim service is better. Well, with most little thunderstorms, I lose power. Just happened two days ago. So, call me skeptical.
But, I sure love to see the photos of such gorgeous, snowy landscapes. It's why I love (even crummy) Christmas movies. The settings are downright dreamy.
We had Denver friends go to Texas to "warm up" that winter, had their giant 5 wheel RV or whatever you call it, big enough to carry a car inside.
They had plenty of room but as you say power was out so they were without heat.
Not a great vacation but as you say that should be a once in a lifetime occurrence.
And same here, sweltering in July & August I enjoy a good "snowy" Christmas movie lol. And most other months of the year

Yikes @SilleeMee you have about the same numbers as up here.
Stay warm and safe, looks like we're not going anywhere!
BTW, do you use grocery delivery? I have a King Sooper a couple miles away and found didn't need delivery. Did try Amazon Fresh however recently because they had something I needed and it was great! Special $4.95 delivery charge + $5 tip.
I don't like to spend the money on delivery but the produce and everything else was so good may go to a subscription. I'm already a Prime member.
