One of my favorite books when I was a young teenager was set in the Catskills.  I think I'll test my detective skills and see if I can find it.  I've wanted to go there ever since I read the book.

Found it.  My Side of the Mountain but I thought it was a girl that ran away to the Catskills.  In a sequel his sister joined him but that sequel was released in 1990.  I wasn't reading children's books in 1990.

The Catskills are nothing like they used to be.

Then again hardly anything is the way it used to be..usually not for the better.
