America may run on Dunkin'. But who wants to pay full price?

One Florida man's attempt to snag a doughnut discount by flashing a fake badge and real gun ended with his arrest Tuesday, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Dunkin' Donuts regular Charles T. "Chuck" Barry was charged with one count of false impersonation of a law-enforcement officer and improper exhibition of a firearm.

Barry, 48, asked for the discount on Nov. 6 when he used the drive-through of the Dunkin' Donuts store at 10829 State Road 54 in Trinity, a community north of Tampa, deputies said.

"Barry displayed a law enforcement Sheriff Star Badge and identified himself as law enforcement and requested a discount on his order of donuts," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

When he was denied, deputies say, Barry held up a holstered firearm and said, "See I am a cop!"

"The witness said Barry never pointed the firearm at him and never took it out of his holster but did display it to him,'' the Sheriff's Office said.

The store manager of the store got Barry's vehicle tag information when the Trinity man used the drive through of the same store the next day.

"Surveillance" was set up at the store and a deputy spotted Barry driving away from the business on Tuesday.

"A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with Barry the deputy observed he had a law enforcement badge in his wallet,'' the Sheriff's Office said. "He was also carrying a .38 caliber revolver in his front pocket."

Workers at the store "positively identified" Barry as the suspect.
