I think kids need to learn to be bored and deal with it too at about that age and older. It is a skill you will need throughout your life.
Sometimes I think half my life was spent in meetings and conferences paying attention and sitting still. My momma taught me how in church. If I didn't behave, I got pinched. Now I could send her to the slammer or that I guess.

ITA. Bored or not her going upstairs and snooping through another's things is not acceptable. Her parents should've brought something(s) to keep her occupied.

An adult snooper has learned to hide the evidence of their intrusion, as this girl will in time. Next @Trinity11 will suggest a burgler entered the house unobserved and fortunately this innocent trustworthy girl didn't happen upon him and end up dead.

I can't understand why so many of you on here , think she needs to be entertained, good night she's 10 years old. She's in 4th grade.not a child, child. What does she do in church, go thru peoples purses. She's not a child whose been taught anything.

At 10 years old Mama shouldn't have to fill her purse with toys and trinkets to keep her entertained like one would do for a 2 or 3 year old in a restaurant setting. She's old enough to bring her own entertainment for an afternoon.

I for one would have had no problem following her up the stairs and asking her to come back down and told her there is nothing up there for a 10-year old to play with. There is no way I would have let her go up to my second floor.

This child wasn't an innocent looking for some play thing by going through linens and desk drawers, she was looking for hidden cash.
This is the craziest reply so far, I have twin granddaughters that just turned 11, they don't even keep track of theiri own cash, they get cash for birthdays and just lay it around hey could care less about cash! What a horrible thing to say!

I don't go into kitchen drawers, cabinets, or the refrigerator in the homes of long time friends or relatives either. It's taking liberties and impolite. I suppose there are those who think because they wouldn't mind, you won't either, but they are mistaken.

A good policy is to close doors to rooms you don't want people in when you have company.
