I think he use to be cute 50(?) or so years ago.....Now he is creepy.

I drive past him everyday on my way home.

The sign he holds tells me about today's fire alert danger since I live behind a National Forest.

I never thought of Smokey as creepy. I thought he was cute and special, and I learned about fire prevention from him. When I was a kid, I became an official jr. forest ranger because my dad sent away for a kit that contained a little storybook, and a badge, plus a few other little things. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

There was an ad a few years ago that emphasized it is Smokey Bear, not Smokey the Bear.
