So frightening, all that destruction and smoke in the air, it is heartbreaking.  I am sorry you are going through this ordeal as I am sorry for everyone who has had these terrible fires.  Stay safe and well.

With all of the recent fires lately, I found a 'smoke' map which shows where the plumes (and fires, too) are located and how thick they are. I like to look at that kind of stuff., It's interesting to me.

Thank you for the link. I have saved it. We are in our fire season, so this will come in handy.

@icezeus  Every year CA burns thousands of acres. I can't imagine how there's any land left!

Every single year for as many years as I can remember. We are lucky that we did not have Santa Ana Winds, for this latest batch of fires.

That's when it's really bad for us.

@SilleeMee Glad you are in Colorado rather than California....4 killed over the weeknd, over 4000 firefighters battling 12 fires, ongoing potential rolling blackouts, being asked to keep homes at 78 degrees....glad you are observing the smoke rather than participating in the storm that is raging throughout the state.  No more California Dreamin'.

I'm in Colorado and the smoke has been thick all day.  Looked like dusk the entire day b/c the smoke obscured the sun so badly that it made the sky dark.

Here in western WA state today, we are under a weather warning for strong winds that are blowing from east to west and bringing smoke from the fires burning over there and in British Columbia, Canada--also going to be in the low 90's tomorrow along with the high wind so every one is freaked out about possible fires that would rage because of the  wind. And we have that weird orange sunshine from the smoke---sure glad there is no such thing as climate change----

I was out this morning about 7:00 and, at that time, the sun was RED.  I wish I had taken a pic but I went on to the store and after that it wasn't red anymore.

Today and yesterday, it is really horrible here in N NV.    Both days, when I've had to go outside the air was virtually unbreathable - at least for somebody like me with breathing problems. In order to not cough up a lung, I had to bring the top I was wearing and put it over my mouth and nose.

I can't imagine how it is for those in the middle of it.   Smiley Sad
