I'm in Nirthern Virginia.  No blue sky at all.  No clouds.  Just milky haze.  It is the smoke from Nova Scotia.  It is also increasing the ozone to alert levels.

Re: Smoke From Nova Scotia Wildfires Enters NE USA

We had quite a scare yesterday.  Fire on our main road.  Road closed both ends due to fire.  No exit.  Fire was knocked down.  Anxious times.  Rain is in the forecast today so we are praying for it.  Bags packed to exit if there is an exit.

Crazy but some people are deliberately setting fires.  First responders are doing an amazing job but are exhausted.

On our secondary highway.

maryland and delaware are getting smoky hazy skies the past two days from wildfires burning in NEW JERSEY plus it has been windy.

the air quality has been quite poor along with our 93 degree day.

@Oznell @OKPrincess  et al.  We had go bags packed and were ready to evacuate.  The fire on our seoncdary highway started anew.  The rain came last night and is supposed to last several days.  A good kind of rain.  Steady 20-30 mm so far.  It is like the earth gave a sigh of relief.

There are still fires out of control.  One in southern. ova Scotia is more than 26,000 hectares.  I just find it so awful that this is the new reality in so many places.  I also have the strong feeling of ... there but for the grace of God go I.  I hope you never have to deal with this kind of crisis and I fear it is becoming more and more common.

Thank you for the well wishes.  Certainly appreciated.  LM

Thank you for the updates as we don't hear as much here. I can't imagine the fear and danger you are feeling right now.

So many of weather-related events are happening all over and getting worse it seems. Hang in there and know we are thinking and praying for our Canadian friends.

Re: Smoke From Nova Scotia Wildfires Enters NE USA

I become more aware of air quality now that we live in an area of the country with constant air quality alerts.

We pay attention and limit prolonged outdoor activities. We also have 3 air purifiers/cleaners what run 24-7. When the filters are changed we are shocked at the dirty dusty stuff. Just think if the machine did not clean the air, your lungs would have to do it.

It's not just older persons or compromised that need to be aware of air quality. Children are also at risk as well as allergy-asthma patients.
