Smoke From Nova Scotia Wildfires Enters NE USA

[ Edited ]

All of a sudden my allergies kicked on and I was starting to wheeze. The 11:00 pm weather report said it was going to happen.

I closed the windows and turned up my air purifiers. Now back to normal. I couldn't smell any trace of smoke.

Looks like I'll have to stay inside tomorrow.

If you're sensitive to smoke and live in the NE, prepare now. It's coming in from east to west.

As soon as I heard this on the news I closed my windows almost all the way.  I do not like burning smells in my house!  Also, I have pet birds, and smoke can be dangerous.

The dogs will have to stay inside tomorrow most of the day as well--better to be safe than sorry.

@PickyPicky3 I'm sorry the smoke gets to you but glad you have a remedy for it, air purifiers.

However, my first thought was "how bad are the fires in Nova Scotia" to cause this warning. I hope they are okay. I've been in very close contact to wild fires here in California and it can be pretty serious. I haven't watched the news so haven't heard anything on these fires.

Up near Boston you can see the haze, but I really think they're exaggerating the smoke. Maybe in Maine, but in the Boston area not so much. I really don't think New Jersey and Pennsylvania are to be that affected.

How is our friend who lives there with the beautiful gardens every year? Maybe we'll hear from her soon.

Smoke from increasing occurrences of forest fires will be more common as the planet keeps going into climate change. We can expect more smoky skies and reduced air quality in the coming months and years.

Thank you. @Oznell  I didn't spell her name correctly. We enjoy her photos each year. Prayers for everyone and everything.

It was quite foggy and overcast in RI early this morning.  The local weather stated the smoke is high above us in this area and will not be a problem, so the overcast has nothing to do with it I guess?   We cannot smell any type of burning/smoke and actually as I type this the sun came out.   It must be settling in the PA, NJ area.  Best of luck and stay inside if you can.

Also sending thoughts out to our Nova Scotia friends.

I live in Northern Delaware and although I have not noticed much smoke from Nova Scotia, I am feeling the effects.  My allergies and asthma are usually controlled by taking singulair nightly but since this weekend I have had a barking cough, terrible wheezing, tightness in my chest and a burning in my throat.  I visted my NP yesterday who put in a RX for Prednisone to reduce inflamation and an Abuterol rescue inhaler.
