Skin Staph Infection...Dog

Hello everyone...hoping to get some info from those that have had pets get "hot spots" or staph infection. Recently my doggie turned up with this....a small amount on her chest. Vet put her on antibiotics (simplicef 100mg's) for 14days. IT went away for about 6wks and has now returned...same area and same amount.

From what I have read it seems that perhaps the 2wks of treatment may not have been long enough....some sites reported being on the antibiotic for a longer time...they said once it cleared the dog should remain on the antibiotic for a few more weeks to ensure clearing of the infection. My dog's lesions didn't go away until the very end of treatment so I am thinking this my be why it came back again.

ANyway I would appreciate any advice on OTC products that worked for you and if what I read or in your experience is correct.

I have a vet appt later this week but I wanted to be sure that she gets proper treatment this time and we clear up this infection. Otherwise I'll be going to the vet every six weeks??
