Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

When I first began shopping with QVC, their policy required every vendor follow standard QVC sizing guidelines so that no matter what brand you bought, there was no guesswork with regard to sizing.

So much better than spinning the wheel to guess your size.

I also remember when QVC refunded shipping costs when you returned an item for any reason.

Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

I've learned to not care (or not pay attention) how the hosts look in the clothes they're selling, anymore.  But that also means every instance they squeeze themselves into a too-tight size, the more they're proving how obsolete their job is becoming for TV shopping.

For some of the hosts, more & more I disregard how items fit on them for the context of sizing.  If it's obviously extremely tight, or they cannot close it up, etc., then I bypass them from my shopping experience completely.  I solely look at measurements online, and my past sizing history for the brand, if I have any.

One style/fabric of Laurie Felt jeans stretches out a lot.  Not sure what Ali was wearing.

Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

This doesn't have to do with sizing just an observation. I was looking at a video from the Denim & Co show for today, it was from right before Christmas with Carolyn Gracie. I guess QVC has the right to air the clip even though Carolyn is no longer employed by them, I just thought it was odd.

Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

There's no way I could look at a host or model and determine what size I should buy myself.  Some of the hosts fib about what sizes they are wearing.  Some wear their clothes tighter than I wear mine.  A smart shopper would never look at a host or model and think "yup, I'm ordering a size small".  I look at hosts and models to see how clothing looks on a model, especially as she moves around.  I also like to see how the clothing is styled.  When it comes to sizing, I have my body measurements and I use the body size charts.  I rarely have any sizing issues.

Frankly, I think the only good thing about seeing clothes on a model is to see how the item looks on a person vs a hanger.

Unless the model is the same height and body type as you are, the garment will not fit the same.  For example, because Q clothing runs so large many posters are extra small and even extra, extra small.  It is unlikely however that they are close to six feet tall as many of the models who wear those sizes are.

@PINKdogWOOD. If you'll review the video of the show, Ali clearly said she wears a 2 or 4 but would go up to the 4 in those jeans because she carries her weight in her legs.

Perhaps you missed her comment?

Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

I just know my size on QVC, but still look at the chart just to make sure.

What size the host says she has on is completely irrelevant to me, as we all know they wear their clothes about two sizes too small.

Re: Sizing with Hosts & MOdels

When items (mainly jeans/pants) look too-too tight on models and some hosts, I usually size up.

But, I must say that blonde model Maria seems to always be in the right size.

Not too tight, etc.  Very 'classy'-classic.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
