Re: Situation with a inpatient driver today

There are a lot of cell phone ""reporters"" who will snap the license plate and report someone to the DMV.

A family member (by marriage) did that to someone on the highway. She will rat anyone out for anything.

Re: Situation with a inpatient driver today

I ONLY use my horn if someone doesn't see me.

For example, in a parking lot, and they're backing up and they don't see me behind them.

Otherwise never.

My BIGGEST pet peeve on the road is when drivers lay on the horn when others are stopped for emergency vehicles...

Fighting for them.( formerly EMTHeart)

Re: Situation with a inpatient driver today

My pet peeve is when someone goes extremely slow in the fast lane of a 3 lane road (actually a highway) creating a bottleneck because the middle lane is already full and everyone behind you is trying anyway to make a mad dash for it to pass this guy. Semi trucks are very guilty of doing this and I've reported a couple to the highway patrol who now makes their presence known on that particular road. They're pulling people over every single day including a great big Fedex truck.

eta: obviously not for just going slow.

Re: Situation with a inpatient driver today

Stories like this happen to me every day because I drive to work in a large metro city. I use my horn liberally...that's what it's there for. One time I was driving behind a motorcycle in traffic but on a residential street, he started braking a lot and I didn't know why, in my opinion I was not too close to him. He got off his motorcycle at a stop sign (cars lined up behind me and in the lane next to me) and he walked up to my car and started yelling abuse at me. I yelled back through the closed window that he would get himself killed with his own crazy driving and he smashed my side mirror off with his fist. I got out of my car on shaking legs to get his license plate number but he backed up his bike between the lanes of traffic so I couldn't see it on the back of his bike. Traffic just kept flowing, nobody did a thing to help. I called the police to report it when I got home but of course nothing ever came of it. I still get so mad whenever I remember this. Mostly because I had a cell phone on the seat next to me but was too shook up to think to use it at the time it was happening (it was years ago and I wasn't so attached to a cell like today). I'm also mad nobody helped me in any way.

A friend who.is a cop told me a story of road rage.

A guy pulled up next to someone at a stop sign and shot the other person in the head. Apparently that other person did something he didn't like...driving too slow for him, who knows.

The victim lived, but had brain damage.

I never look directly at other drivers or acknowledge them in any way. I wouldn't acknowledge them if they gestured or honked or anything. I wouldn't want to stir the pot.

You have no idea who's in that car, what kind of issues they have, and what kind of weapon they have.

I do the same thing. Agree that you never know who is willing to fire a deadly weapon.

I was driving home the other morning, 3 lanes of traffic. In my rear view mirror I saw the flashing lights of an ambulance coming up behind me. I used my blinker, slowed down to change lanes when it was safe, and the darn car in back of me honked! I guess he didn't like the fact that I had slowed down, couldn't move over yet.... And when I did get to the curb, there the other car was with the ambulance on his rear!

He moved out of the way then-

Same thing happened to me. Got on a highway with a big ol SUV behind me and looked over to the right because there was another road leading onto the highway. So I slowed down so I would not get in front of him and then I would have to get over and boy did they lay on the horn.. She swerved around me blowing her horn and then she saw why I had slowed down and her brakes came on.

Maybe next time she won't lay on that horn so fast. I only use it when necessary, mainly when someone is yapping on there cell phone and they need all lanes on a highway.

I have a friend whose son got into road rage and he is now sitting in jail for life. Someone cut him off and he then followed him and beat him to death. It is really sad out there anymore.

Re: Situation with a inpatient driver today

I obey speed limits, especially in residential areas, and I'm threatened all the time.
