I thought I would cancel Sirus after the free 3 months, but no way. I had to keep it. We have it in two vehicles. The Message is my favorite channel. I would never pay the $20+ dollars they want to charge after the free 3 months. I call every year for a lower price. Right now I pay around $6.00 per vehicle. But maybe I should let my subscription expire. The $4.99 sounds ever better. Smiley Happy. Except for having to wait a month for that offer.

I just changed my subscription online to $12.00.

Ugh.....don't get me started on Sirius!! I've had them for 10 years. When it's renewal time, I receive a bill in the mail, which is usually double of what I paid the year before. I always call customer service to try to get the best price. In the past, they were very willing and able to negotiate a decent rate. Since my husband retired, I rarely use my car anymore. It's not as cost-effective as it was in the past. When I called Customer Service two weeks ago to negotiate a new price, the representative was rude, and not very knowledgeable. She said that they charge $30 extra if you use a money order. I have heard many times over that its a bad idea to give them your credit card information, or send a check with your bank routing number. That is, because they will use those numbers to automatically renew your Sirius radio subscription at the high rate. There is no way I will pay $30 more to use the money order. I canceled my subscription, and we have parted ways.

I have it. It was offered free when I purchased a new car 3 years ago. Every year since then I renew, but I call them to get a cheaper rate. Although I can stream on my phone, tablet, etc. I only use it in the car. I also have Apple music and create several playlists. I like Sirius XM because there are no commercials and I can pause music and rewind. Also if I'm listening and a call comes through in my car, when I hang up the song picks up where it was interrupted by the phone call.

One of my daughters has it, and keeps it at a low price as mentioned here by letting the subscription expire and waiting for the call with a special price.

@Effie54, they don't automatically renew at a higher rate if you've cancelled before the renewal date. Just like with every subscription service.

While their lowest rate is $4.99 a month there is a music royalty fee of a dollar. No getting around that.

The subscription is not just for a vehicle but can also be used through their app. I usually only listen to two channels, Radio Classics old time radio shows channel 148, and On Broadway channel 69. There are so many channels that range over a variety of taste. Goodness...the sports channels alone makes my head spin.

I used to spend hours in my car, now very rarely yet to me it's worth it.

I had it for a bit then got rid of it. They are like Spectrum when re-up comes due - you have to barter with them to get a low cost.

I had Sirius in my car for many years when I was working and had a long commute. When I retired, I got rid of it. I just no longer have the money regardless of what they offer.

Currently,I stream Pandora from my cell phone through my car's radio. It's free. Works just fine and ads are minimal.

I've had Sirius for 18 yrs ( first 12 yrs was on a sirius  lifetime subscription that cost me one-time $300. Now I pay $6 a mth and call shortly before it expires and say I'm   80 and on a fixed income (true) and that I'll cancel if they can't match my current rate. They always give me lowest rate. We take many out of town trips (6-20 hrs of driving, often through isolated mountains and desert) Sirius is a lifesaver; listen to CNN, MSNBC, the Bridge and the Blend. So odd that they still play That Price Game!

I have it, wouldn't be without it.  Have had it in my last 4 cars.  Can't stand "regular" radio with all the commercials.  I pay around $90 a year for the high tier. You need to call every year in order to get the pricing.  It's a game they play.  I mainly listen only to "E-Street Radio"; but it's well worth it not to have to hear something I can't stand.  Love ya, Bruce!

We have it all our cars and the camper, I love that there is no looking for a new channel when on the road. I don't create playlists. I'm going to share this thread with my DH so he can deal with Sirius!! He loves Phlash Phleps, so do I but I seldom get to listen to him!
