Its interesting that the Kennedy family was divided on whether or not he should be paroled.

Re: Sirhan Sirhan

[ Edited ]

The majority of the Kennedy/Shriver family did not want him released....hence the Gavin decision.

Most importantly, Ethyl Kennedy didn't want him paroled.  Robert Kennedy Jr. is weird, IMO.  He believes in all kinds of wacko things.  Including that Sirhan Sirhan didn't kill his father, even though he admitted he did and why.

Let him stay in jail for the rest of his life.  Kudos to Governor Newsom.

Well, at least the right decision was made by Governor Gavin Newsom. Sirhan Sirhan is where he belongs.

I am glad that justice is being served.  I feel very sorry for Ethel, who says she and her family have had to endure reliving  Bobbie’s death over and over through the years.

@VeneziaRobert Kennedy Jr. and two other siblings believe there is more to the story.  Documents released which were sealed back then including the number of shots fired have opened up questions by these 3 family members.

Sirhan did admit to the killing but has retracted his statement through the years.  It is the key to not releasing him-no  admission of guilt.

I am not saying Sirhan was not the assassin; but I can also see where Bobby Jr. and his two siblings are coming from.

As long as there is no new evidence, Sirhan should remain in jail.

@Cakers3 - Only two of Robert Kennedy's children advocated for Sirhan's release:  RFK Jr. and Douglas Kennedy.

Douglas was only 4, when his father was assassinated.  IMO, he's being influenced by RFK Jr..

Six of RFK's children submitted a letter against Sirhan being granted parole and stating they felt he deserved to stay in prison for his lifetime.

Frankly, someone in prison on a life sentence will say whatever the parole board and anyone else wants to hear to be released.  I don't believe any of his statements that he will only try to change things by "peaceful means" and "nonviolence".  He has a lot of excuses for why he did what he did - but no seemingly genuine remorse.  I don't think he could be trusted, if released.

He wounded five other people in that shooting, along with killing RFK.  RFK Jr. can come up with whatever new "evidence" he wants to - Sirhan brought that gun to the hotel and he's the one who fired it.  He's where he belongs.

@Venezia    I have never supported his release.  I specifically said that unless new evidence arose, he belongs in jail.

I know all the issues in your post; I'm quite aware of who supported parole and there was one daughter in a previous hearing that also supported parole.

It's a discussion here, nothing more, of why he believes Sirhan should have parole or at least have the case given another look.

Not my opinion nor my facts.

If everyone just wants "he belongs in jail", which I support, then there is no sense having a discussion about anything else.
