I am having a sinus lift Monday Morning possibly followed by a dental implant. I know, this sounds drastic. Trying to think positively and look at the big picture. Has anyone had this and how was the recovery? I can,t blow my nose while healing and must sneeze with my mouth open. This is tough.

I don't have any experience of that but I had a tympanoplasty two weeks ago. My ear drum perforated due to repeated sinus infection. A graft of my skin from behind the ear was surgically put in place of the ear drum. I also cannot blow my nose and have to sneeze with my mouth open incase. I wish u all the best for your procedure and recovery.

I had 4 implants on the top 6 months ago, I was lucky no sinus lift was needed but my nose seemed to run for weeks on end after the surgery, it was not fun

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I had that done a few years ago. It wasn't the funnest thing in the world. I kept my head elevated while sleeping. I also used arnica to help with the healing (I was pretty bruised on one side). Good luck.

chesslady, just ignore gazelle and anyone else who blathers negative things.

I know some people who had implants and had to have bone grafting, the addition of more bone, and had their sinuses raised. All did very well. Please don't worry and stop reading the replies here. They will scare you to death.

GOOD LUCK and please let us know how you make out.

Have you had this done?

I did and it wasn't a bed of roses. That's reality. Be prepared to be uncomfortable for a few days. Have an ice pack on hand. Read your doctor's instructions and follow them.

No, I didn't have to have the sinus lift personally, but I did have implants on the top. Of course it's uncomfortable, and of course it's going to hurt. But I didn't say it wasn't going to hurt.

However, chesslady doesn't have to hear moronic comments like "Sounds very painful." {#emotions_dlg.ohmy} Nobody said it's going to be a bed of roses lol

Ah, got it. Thanks.

You were lucky that you didn't need the sinus lift. It costs more (which itself is deserving of a long string of choice curse words) and the implant doesn't get put in for at least 6 months. I had those little silver caps that cover the implant screws towards the front of my mouth. I looked ridiculous when I smiled. Anyway it's done and I'm glad I did it. The results are fantastic and they really do look, feel and act like real teeth.

It takes time and patience chesslady but in the end you will be very happy.

Hi, chessylady!

I've never even heard of this procedure, had to look it up to see what was involved.

Your comment is the best: "Trying to think positively and look at the big picture." I know you've researched it and chosen a good doctor, and you're going into this with a great attitude. That's a big part of winning, so you're well on your way to success!

I'll send a prayer and lots of good vibes your way. I hope you'll let us know how you're doing.
