I'm watching a show from the Weather Channel and it's amazing! I had no idea about these things. It reminded me of the Kentucky car museum that had that happen to it. Also that poor man's home and loss of his life.

I see in my state there's some more areas that I had no idea about.

Have you ever seen one?

I'm in N.J. and a sinkhole developed in my town last month. The area is blocked off and it won't be ""filled in"" until March! I did not see it but my friend did and it was extremely huge and scary. The underground pipes go through 2 others town so it will take a long time. I live 4 blocks away and you can hear the jackhammers and equipment. I feel so bad for the people that live in the immediate area. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

There are many places in Florida that have them-and thankfully we don't live in an area that does, but it would be my worst nightmare......it's like something literally out of a horror movie. It was either this year or last, but there was a house that was sucked up by one in Pinellas County: they couldn't even get to the body of the owner....I know it happens, but I can't imagine raising children around it. That sounds stupid, and there are plenty of kids who grow up with the threats earthquakes, but you have a chance of surviving.....I just can't imagine the ground literally opening up and swallowing me up-like the movie "Poltergeist". I know I sound stupid, but when we were looking at houses down here, sink hole activity was a top priority.
