i may be the only person who has never heard of him before. there have been a lot of tributes on facebook and on tv. it sounds like he was very respected in the industry and very popular. may he rest in peace.

A talented, gifted, respected musician, poet, wordsmith.   I think many people have heard his songs but didn't know his name.   His words and music sprang from the heart, the soul, and resonated with many of us.   Rest in Peace with the angels.  Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.❤️

One of my favorites both as a songwriter and singer.  He was up there with Bob Dylan in writing but also could actually sing. I was really pulling for him to recover but with his age and health issues, I knew that was a long shot.

Re: Singer John Prine Dead At 73 Yrs.

Among the first songs I learned to play as a kid: Paradise

"...And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well I’m sorry my son but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away.."
