Since there is a thread on tweeting I don't get texting

at social events. You are at a social event and you can't turn your phone off long enough with your friends to be with them and socialize with them without getting texts from other friends? I have seen people, not just kids but grown people texting furiously with other people while out in a social event. Even if it is work related, why go out? It just does not make sense to me, and it really is discourteous to your friends and or family.
