Snowpuppy, your post made me laugh out loud. I could just picture the OP sitting in her tub polishing her flatware !

QVC used to sell a rub on silver replating liquid that worked wonders. Not sure if a product like that is available anymore. EDITED TO ADD: Just googled and the product is Medallion liquid Silver and is available on amazon and other places. You clean your silver, then just rub this liquid silver on and it coats the bare worn areas.

If anyone does have nice silverplated items, don't use harsh silver cleaning liquids on them and don't rub too hard when you polish. Overpolishing is a main contributor to the loss of silver on these items.
