I see lots of pj tops, bottoms, slippers, and lounge pants out and about in my city. I see them mostly on teens to maybe 40 year olds. I don't really care how others dress.
I don't think about it very much. These days people pretty much wear what they want unless there's a strict dress code.
I've posted before that I probably dress up more than the average person these days. When I go out I wear jeans or trousers with nice tops, sweaters, and sometimes I add a jacket or blazer. I still wear dresses to church, especially if I'm the soloist.
I would like to add that nothing I wear is uncomfortable. Sometimes people assume dressing up means you can't be comfortable in your clothes. If the pieces fit you correctly, and the material is something you like, then it should be comfortable to wear.

@Kachina624 definitely not me! I don't wear my pajamas to any public place. I'm not quite as fashionable as the "60's" version. I can remember coming to my Mom's and she felt that I was NOT appropriately dressed for wherever it was we were going. She made me change into one of her blouses but let me wear the jeans. I was probably 25 and she was not having it.

unfortunately @proudlyfromNJ I have seen ppl dressed like that in public. A couple of my co-workers would show up in the office like that.
I was appalled & told them so.

My Great Grandmother wore dresses every day and nylons, heels and gloves when she went out. She did not wear any makeup except powder on her face.
She would have never worn pants or Jeans. Just a sign of her times and of a different generation..My Paternal Grandmother never wore pants either, always dresses.
My Maternal grandmother was a huge fan of the Pant suits! She drove before it was fashionable, smoked cigarettes, and worked outside the home-she was a hoot!!!!!!

ha ha @kate2357 when I would go to workout after work, especially in the cold months, I had a skirt made out of an insulated material that I pulled on over my tights if I was planning to stop at the store on my way home.
It made me feel better. I know some people don't care but it just made me more comfortable knowing I was covered.

The men in the 1960's photo look like they should be singing "Big Girls Don't Cry".

I have. I worked for Belk one Christmas and they brought us in on Thanksgiving evening. A lot of women shopped as they giggled.
There were lines in the cold outside to buy plastic boots.

"I just see it all as a claim to bash others while putting yourself above when all the while not everyone thinks you are above those that don't wear what you do."

@on the bay - Well, that's quite a strong reaction to those who say they wear jeans, but wouldn't wear PJs out in public.
For myself, my jeans are not dirty, they're not old, ragged or full of holes. And I certainly never suggested I was "dressing up" in jeans, but I do feel appropriately dressed to be out in public. I would not in pajamas.
And to answer your other question - no, my jeans are not uncomfortable; quite the opposite. It all depends on what brand you buy or prefer. If my jeans were uncomfortable, I'd find a different pair. I've also gotten "compliments by strangers" who liked my jeans and asked where I got them.
The example in the original post was clearly adult onesies. Not "model comfortable bottoms". (I wasn't sure whether you meant Modal the fabric or model, the style.)
As many posters say, "you do you and I'll do me". I don't like seeing what are obviously pajamas in public, but I don't have such a strong reaction to it either.
