Funny thread!   For the life of me I simply cannot understand why people wear their pajama's or slippers (another pet peeve of mine) out of the house.   I don't dress up fancy but I try to look presentable at all times, you never know who you are going to bump into!

I've seen the slipper and PJ thing in the supermarket many times and the worst I've seen is when I'm flying........you shouldn't get through security if you are in your pajama's IMO.

There are other comfy clothes that are more acceptable.

And @on the bay  I have to respectfully disagree as far as the jean thing.  I practically live in jeans.  I don't wear torn or beat up ones, actually I have some that you can't even tell they are jeans at all.

@LindaSal,

I know jeans can be pretty. I have some too. Gloria Vanderbilt with some bling.

I just don't think they are any better to be dressed in public than many pants that people are calling "pajamas" when they actually have many places they can be worn.

Plus to me the material of jeans is so uncomfortable! Don't you find them that way? Doesn't anyone else honestly feel they are so uncomfortable?

If I go to the store that is across the street from the local high school, and it is about noon--so lunch time for the students--many can be seen walking in what I would consider to be pajama pants and slippers. This is what they wear to school. !!!
OK. I guess I will wear what I wear and be happy with it.

@on the bay Actually you have a valid point.  I remember back in the day how uncomfortable they were, that's for sure!   Many of mine do have a couple percentages of Spandex in them and I will say I feel, the comfort of that "give" is a game changer.  I know the earlier days of adding that to jeans made them stretch out and almost fall down during the day, LOL, but today I love the jeans I own as that no longer occurs in the brands I have.  Much better quality!

@Kachina624 @LindaSal @msgb @on the bay @ScrapHappy

The teens I taught wore pjs to school...and fuzzy house slippers and they often carried fuzzy blankets too.

SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM!

I believe it started when the school began having a "wear your pjs to school day"

The kids asked me once WAS I GOING TO WEAR MY PJs TO SCHOOL"

no, I'm not

but just think they could be adults now....wearing their pjs in public

I had that in high school, wear PJ's to school day but that was in the 80's  I didn't do it though.  I drive my daughter to school in the mornings.  I see lots of kids wearing pj's and shoes that look like slippers.  Who knows, maybe they're slippers.  My daughter said lots of kids wear their pajamas to school.

My children's school has a dress a code in the 90s and 2000.
I do see people of all ages wearing their pajamas and slippers in all sorts of stores, Walmart, Safeway, TJ Maxx, I wonder sometimes about how they live. If they can't bother to change their clothes what does their house look like?
