I agree about how well he has aged.   Still handsome as ever.  Sue the movie you were referring to is Shall We Dance.  I love that movie also.   I was just happy that he stayed true to his wife and  the tux scene is one of my favorites also.   I too choke up every time I see that scene.

Love it too!! Tony Dovilani from DWTS has a small role in the film.

For me, Gere never looked better than he did in Pretty Woman, although American Gigalo comes pretty darn close.

SPOILER WARNING!

I really disliked Unfaithful because of the ambiguous ending.  Did they he turn himself in or not?  I hate when a movie involves me for two hours and then doesn't wrap things up to a definite conclusion.  Watched that film once and never again.

Hunky Halle Berry's husband is in it - who gets murdered (hunky loverboy).

yes, the ending showed that they turned him in....at least that was what ingot out of it. I do not think he could live with the secret.

Wow .... it's been a long time since I saw that movie, but I got the impression that they were going to try to just move past it and stay together ... no police.

Even more importantly .....  what woman in her right mind would cheat on Richard Gere ??

A bit of trivia re "An Officer and a Gentleman". Debra Winger and Richard Gere did not get along at all. In one scene where she was crying she later said it was easy because she was so frustrated and angry at him.

Richard Gere told Barbara Walters he only did the movie for the money.

John Travolta was offered the part first. (JT was also offered American Gigilo but turned that down as well)...

I don't find him attractive, but I never saw him in a movie I didn't like.

I cannot imagine JT in either of these roles.  Early in his career he was always Vinnie Barbarino.  I cannot imagine women paying for THAT with him.

Love Richard Gere and most of his movies.

@blackhole99

Thank you for posting - I don't find him attractive either, although as I posted above, I do think he has aged very well.   I don't find "beady eyes" very attractive.  His eyes are just slits and that ruins his looks for me.  You know that old saying " the eyes are the windows to the soul."   I feel like I can never really see who he is.  Nope, not attractive to me but I can see why others find him so.

Thanks for the replies. I am glad to see some others like him also.

Thanks for reminding me of Autumn in New York. (How could I forget?). I have to dig it out of the vault now. (I own 99% of his movies).

I also like Unfaithful, but it got to me when he killed that guy because I cant picture him hurting anyone!

Oh and I love Hachi too!

Also, his new movie is out now where he plays a homeless man but unfortunately its in limited theatres as was his Arbitrage movie (which I eventually saw).

My favorite movie of his is still Pretty Woman. My husband hates that movie, and says when does some rich guy come and rescue a hooker? (When he says that, I say well it CAN HAPPEN so you're wrong! lol).

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make~ The Beatles

Re: Sigh, I just watched....

@Shorty2U  Being almost mid-September, it's definitely time to watch Autumn in New York again.  There are beautiful scenes of fall foliage (not that the leaves have turned quite yet but it'll get you in the mood).

I really disliked Arbitrage. I thought it was B-O-R-I-N-G.  There have been similar films that were better than that one.  It is so forgettable that I'd forgotten I'd ever seen it until you mentioned it in your post.
