The irony is is that the inflation is the result of policies to save the environment so all the extra packaging goes against that to some degree. All of this is so ridiculous.

@ThinkingOutLoud  Companies have been making their products smaller for many many years. This is nothing new. I guess you don't remember people complaint then.

What's ironic is that we won't have to worry about inflation if we continue to trash the environment. But we don't care about that if it means Fancy Feast is 20¢ more a can.

Btw, inflation is a worldwide problem, because Covid was a world wide problem.

@JamandBread  Inflation sure is a world wide problem. Some of my family live in Australia. Their prices have always been more than ours. Now they are even higher with their inflation increases. When they tell me the prices of certain things it is a shock.

We just came out of a 2 year worldwide pandemic. Europe is at war with a country that supplied millions of barrels of oil to the continent. That oil supply has been shut off.

It doesn't take someone with an Economics degree to figure out what is happening.

But those who are eager to blame one man, who has no power to regulate private business, will take their shot. As uninformed and silly as it is.

I can live with fewer chips or cookies.  That being said, no one enjoys inflation.  What I find though is when I dig out a recipe that calls for a 12.5 oz. can of something and find the can now only contains 10 oz.  I dealt with this recently and it made a difference in the finished dish.  😠

@Kardi true, and it makes a big difference in baking.  Cake mixes have already been smaller then the older recipes that call for them.

I don't blame the manufacturer for cost cutting when times are bad, but I do blame them when they don't go back to the original sizing when times are good.

I think Bounty not only have been cutting the number of sheets, but has also cut the length of their roll.  My Bounty rolls no longer fit on the holder.

@Kardi I don't know if you were referring to me and my post when you mentioned chips....believe me, I can do without chips myself....I was just going along with the topic of the thread and giving a concrete example of not only the package shrinking, but the price still increasing.  A double whammy.  That's all.

I would give everything I own just to have you back again.......David Gates of Bread

@JamandBread - yes. And also to mention the 25M tons of grain sitting in storage in Ukraine that they can't get out.  They and Russia are the largest exporters in the world. So, when people can't find their favorite breads.....

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

This package shrinking deception has been going on for a very long time. I'm sure Google would reveal that. That's a fact. An inconvenient one, I know
