I totally agree. Government's #1 function and obligation? The safety and well being of it's citizens. WWII was fought for a very specific reason, and for anyone that knows that history, it should be very evident why it needed to be won by The Allied Forces, which included our United States of America.

I wouldn't normally like that idea, but these are far from normal times.
I am at the point where I just don't care what happens to those who refuse to do the right thing to stop the spread of this, but I do care very much about the rest of us.
We should do whatever it takes to force the "I am free, I don't live in a police state" crowd to comply with what is asked of them at this time. I simply can't believe the stories I am reading of the ignorant defiance going on.

then how about,
-give up your keys to your car,

National Guard would deliver all food rations for non-essential families.

This makes absolutely no sense. Why would we discuss a non issue?
And...we do have some laws that already allow everything you mentioned. If you are a drunk driver or a felon, the above mentioned things are already done.
So, I suppose if you were out and about drunk driving with a fire arm and you are a felon
you would be arrested, COVID 19 or not.

No!

I am going to keep my snout out of this because I simply have no basis for weighing in on this. I don't know the issues, the parameters or the reality.
In a situation like this, how would I know? It is an extrordinary situation. There are too many things WE don't know like: arrest them? Military arresting people for standing on the street? IF we arrest them just what are we going to DO with them? Keep thousands of them 6 feet apart? Take them one by one in cars to a jail?
Fine them? Yeah right like that's going to be worthwhile.
If you can't enforce something, you like a fool trying.
So, no. I have NO idea what the answer is.

Yes.

The police should fine or arrest people for breaking the law.
No military.

It has been suggested that people are breaking the law, so therefore, police or military should be involved. I don’t believe this has been made into a law, at least not in my state. A ”law” is much more involved than a strong suggestion from the governor.

Agreed.
People seem to think mandate = law.
No, it doesn't.
They are two totally different and separate things.
