Re: Should OP of a thread return & respond to posts?

I think it depends on the thread topic.  I don't start many threads but when I do I at least acknowledge the responses.  That's just being courteous.

I always do.  And I try very hard to thank everyone individually.  If I can't do that, I thank everyone who responded with a general acknowledgment that I appreciated their responses.

Depends.  No Person is required to do so but if you like, then return.

Yes, the OP of a thread should return and respond to posts.  Acknowledge that people have responded to you -- it's the polite thing to do.

I don't start threads often, but when I have, I try to a least acknowledge with hearts those who have responded.

If there are specific questions, I do respond back to those!

I always respond, always say thank you, this board has helped me put thing in prospective, give me a chance to vent, gave me ideas on certain things.I dont think it would hurt to show some appreciation for those who time time out of their schedule to respond.

It's common courtesy to at least acknowledge that you read the replies. I think anyone who posts something personal requesting feedback especially should acknowledge people trying to help them out. We teach our children to have manners hopefully we remember to have them too.

If you start a thread do you always return to reply to the comments?

I notice sometimes an OP asks a question or poses a problem but never comes back.

Just wondering btw, not judging or making rules lol.😉

@AuberriJean

If someone leaves a post seeking answers from other posters, I see it as common courtesy to come back with one reply. If someone helps me I always make it a point to reply to them personally.

If many posters have left suggestions I address them all with 1 later reply to them.

Posting again to say thanks is not necessary, and gums up the board .

Re: Should OP of a thread return & respond to posts?

[ Edited ]

Recently someone asked a very specific question about a housing community.  Many of the responders gave excellent information or advice about the community or the area.

Others just talked about generalities or shared opinions.  I thought it would have been thoughtful for the OP to acknowledge all the people who made an attempt to answer her question, but she never responded again.

If someone just throws out an idea and others join in, that doesn't suggest that a response by the OP is needed.  But her's was a very specific question.
