If you start a thread do you always return to reply to the comments?
I notice sometimes an OP asks a question or poses a problem but never comes back.
Just wondering btw, not judging or making rules lol.😉

I don't really care one way or another and don't spend time thinking about it.

Absolutely!
If others are so kind as to take their time to respond (agree or disagree, in a kind manner), I appreciate it.

I can't imagine why not.
I don't think one must respond to every single reply individually, but if nothing else to thank the posters for their help/answers seems appropriate.
I definitely would at least express my gratitude. I can't even imagine asking people to help me and never saying thank you, in the very least!
It's the 'hit & run' that is annoying. They just start a thread asking for help, or asking a question, then never come back. That seems rather rude to me.

I' assume they return to read the thread and just don't post again, and I would not expect them to. Unless it is to answer a specific question..
Posting again to say thanks is not necessary, and gums up the board IMO.

"Should" you?
I dunno, I regard posts as printed conversations, so I almost always do return, but the only ones I object to who DON'T usually return and who DO annoy me are SNARK DUMPERS and POT STIRRERS.
They typically act as though they don't have the guts to finish what they start.
Just my observation- YRMV

Yes, OP should definitely come back and respond to a post if a question is answered, wanting their opinion etc. I have responded to a question more than once and no acknowledgement. Like a waste of time to me.

I think it's the right thing to do. Come back to say "thank you" at least, to let the other posters know that you have seen their remarks. Even if you have nothing to add, the others will know you read the thread. JMO

If the OP is asking for advice, then yes, he/she should acknowledge the responses. They can at least heart those that took the time to respond and give a general thank you.

Lol! @violann I almost took out the word "should" because I didn't want it to sound like a judgment or rule but didn't think of a better way to title the thread.
