I wouldn't go until someone figures out why so many people are dying over there. There are a lot of beautiful spots right here in the USA. Better safe than sorry.

Try Aruba - it's a great place. We have been there several times.

NO!  I also wouldn't go...plus even before all of the recent deaths & illness I knew that the DR was not a place to go "off the beaten track"!  

Why not go someplace in the US....if you must do a tropical island I would skip the Caribbean at that time of year because of hurricane threat, and go another time.  The US or British Virgin Islands are beautiful!

Please choose another destination. So many wonderful and beautiful places out there. Why take such a needless risk?

The State Department has issued a travel warning for this country. I think that should help you recover your deposits. Pick another place. DR is too dangerous.

No way, especially since you want to go "off the beaten path".  Even if they offered me a free trip, I wouldn't go.

I would cancel my trip today. The US Government has travel advisories for many places on the site Travel.Gov.
